Andrea di Michele di Francesco di Cione known as Il Verrocchio (Florence, 1435 - Venice, 1488) was an Italian sculptor, painter and goldsmith.
Active mainly in the court of Lorenzo de 'Medici, students were trained at his workshop such as Leonardo da Vinci, Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Francesco Botticini.
He played an important role in the tendency to measure himself with different artistic techniques, manifested in the Florence of the late fifteenth century, and in fact his shop became multi-purpose, with works of painting, sculpture, goldsmith's and decoration, so as to be able to meet the persistent demand coming from all Italy of Florentine products.
